Who doesn’t love Instagram? All of the eye candy, music from amazing artists (like #larkinpoe), and #mainecoon photos, I could spend all day on there. But, did you know, as a marketing tool, Instagram is a powerful way to get in front of millions of potential clients?

Turning those Instagram followers into paying clients can be tough though. How do you convert that Instagram traffic into website traffic that you can actively market to going forward? Well, I will tell you. It’s not as hard as you think.

Convert Instagram followers into email subscribers

Thankfully, converting Instagram followers into email subscribers is easy. In fact, it’s probably one of the easiest things you can do as the clever online marketer I know you are.

By getting your follower’s email addresses you can market to them for peanuts. Well, not actual peanuts, but it can be very inexpensive. The best part is, once you have them as subscribers, converting them into actual clients becomes almost effortless.

Effortless and inexpensive?

Now that I have your attention, let me show you how easy it can be to convert Instagram followers into an email list!

Lure them in

If you’ve ever been fishing, you know that the right bait is key. The same can be said about building your email list. You need to come up with an offer (aka bait) that gets your followers excited enough to give you their email address for it.

This can be as simple as exclusive content that’s not available anywhere else. Sometimes though, it’ll need to be a discount or free products or services. You can also create an ebook, course, or video.

The offer needs to be valuable

The perceived value of your offer needs to be high enough to get your followers to give you their email address.

You want them to know that you care about them. The last thing you want is for them to think you’re just trying to add them to your list. Make your offer valuable and you’ll get the kind of response you are looking for. No matter how costly the offer is upfront, it will almost always pay off big time in the end.

It’s a give and get situation

Now that you’ve come up with the perfect offer for your potential client, there needs to be an exchange. They will give you their email address on a landing page and you will give them the offer. Easy peasy.

What’s a landing page? It’s a simple web page built specifically for growing your email list. It is clear and concise and it has one purpose – to collect email addresses from your Instagram followers.

You want this process to be easy for your Followers – as few hoops for them to jump through as possible.

You post the offer on your Instagram page with the link to your landing page. They enter their email address and maybe name, if you want to gather that up front and click the button to submit. You’ve now started to build your list.

“A small list that wants exactly what you’re offering is better than a bigger list that isn’t committed.”

Keep the information flowing

Once you have their email information, the process will vary based on what email marketing system you use. Some of the most popular providers are Mailchimp, Constant Contact, and Mailerlite. At Barefoot Digital Marketing, we use Mailerlite for our email marketing and just love it.
